Belagavi (Karnataka): As the death toll of blackbucks at the Kittur Chennamma Mini Zoo in Bhutaramanahatti village of Belagavi district rose to 31 on Tuesday, the authorities feared that a possible outbreak of the infectious bacterial disease would spread to the nearby villages. The Karnataka Zoo Authority has therefore issued an advisory urging all to remain cautious.
As per the latest information, out of the 38 blackbucks at the Mini Zoo, 31 have died, and the deaths are suspected to be caused by Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HM) or lumpy skin disease. In view of this, the zoo authorities have written to the Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, warning that there is a possibility of the disease spreading to surrounding villages.
