Attorneys for former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters have asked a federal judge to expedite his ruling on Peters’ federal habeas corpus case and release her on bond immediately, citing her declining health.

Peters, 70, is serving an eight year, nine month sentence at the La Vista Correctional Facility in Pueblo.

“Four weeks ago, on October 16, 2025, the Court stated that it would rule on Mrs. Peters’ Application ‘promptly,’ the Nov. 13 filing stated. “Since then, Mrs. Peters’ health has declined.”

Peters was convicted of three counts of attempting to influence a public servant, one count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, one count of official misconduct and one count of failure to comply with the secretary of state, and sentenced to eight years, nine months of incarceration
