US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that his administration would move ahead with the long-anticipated sale of F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, despite internal concerns within the Pentagon about the potential exposure of sensitive American technology to China.

When asked whether he would approve the deal, Trump responded, “I will say that we will be doing that. We’ll be selling F-35s."

His remarks came just a day before Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s arrival in Washington, marking his first visit to the United States in more than seven years. The two sides are expected to discuss a possible sale of 48 F-35 jets, along with a wider mutual defence agreement.
