Mahanagar Gas (MGL) is working to restore full gas supply across Mumbai after a major pipeline of GAIL was damaged on November 16, disrupting CNG availability across the city. Managing Director Ashu Shinghal told CNBC-TV18 that the damaged section has been isolated and purged with nitrogen. “It is expected by today noon or afternoon supply will be starting, and normalcy will be restored,” he said.
Shinghal said MGL’s network spans 7,500 km and depends on multiple GAIL feeder lines. “One of the major feeder line, which comes from Uran… got damaged on Sunday morning, and therefore our supply to that station was completely stopped,” he said.
To manage the disruption, MGL asked industrial customers to shift to alternate fuels and diverted available gas to essential users. Domestic PNG supp
