A two-hour sit-in protest was organised in Boko on Tuesday, November 18 demanding the inclusion of several Bodo-inhabited areas under the Bodo-Kachari Autonomous Council.
The demonstration, led by the Bodo United People’s Forum of South Kamrup district, was held in front of the Boko–Chaygaon sub-divisional office.
Protesters raised an eight-point charter of demands, with their primary appeal focused on the incorporation of 312 Bodo villages across South Kamrup and Goalpara districts into the autonomous council.
They warned that failure to address the issue would prompt a more intensified agitation in the coming days.
