Two events in Kingston held over the past couple of weeks were able to raise thousands of dollars for local charities.

On Nov. 7, a red-carpet event called the Glimmer Gala was held at the Marriot in Kingston and included dinner, music, and an auction.

All the money raised throughout the event, which included ticket sales, and sponsors, was donated to the Homes for Heros Foundation.

A little more than $100,000 was given to help support veterans who are facing homelessness.

In Kingston, the tiny home village for Canadian veterans opened in June of 2024 and includes 20 fully furnished modular homes, a resource center and on-site support services like case managers and counselling to help veterans transition to civilian life.
