Three people are dead after a house fire in Washington County early Tuesday morning, according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

Authorities said firefighters were called around 5 a.m. to the 13800 block of National Pike in the Clear Spring area, for a house heavily involved in fire.

Firefighters conducted a primary search and found three victims dead at the scene.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones impacted by this tragic incident. The responding crews demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, and cooperation under extremely difficult conditions, and we are grateful for their service to our community,” said R. David Hays, Director of the Washington County Division of Emergency Services.

An investigation continues.
