Vince Lidy resigned as Mt. Vernon’s football coach on Monday.

Lidy, who led Mt. Vernon to a Class 4A state championship in his first season in 2021, was 31-26 overall in his five seasons at the school.

“We greatly appreciate all of coach Lidy’s efforts over the past five seasons at the helm of the football program and wish him the best of luck in the future,” Mt. Vernon’s athletic department released in a statement on Lidy’s resignation.
