Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) spoke out about pressure from President Donald Trump at a press conference at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday morning ahead of a vote to mandate the release of investigation files involving accused trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
In her speech alongside Democrats, Greene explained she's dedicated years of her life to get Trump elected, but now he brands her a traitor.
"I was called a traitor by a man that I fought for six years for," Greene said. "And I gave him my loyalty for free. He called me a traitor for standing with these women and refusing to take my name off the discharge petition. Let me tell you what a traitor is. A traitor is an American who serves foreign powers. A patriot is an American who serves America."
"I wanna see every single name released so that these women don't have to live in fear and intimidation, which is something that I had a small taste of in just the past few days," she continued. "But the real test will be if the [Department of Justice] will release the files."
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) indicated in his speech that Greene, along with other GOP women like Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Nancy Mace (R-SC) have received threats for supporting the release of the files.
Greene also predicted a unanimous vote in the House, but noted that the real battle begins after that vote, implying that there might be some difficulty in passing the bill in the Senate and getting Trump to sign it.
