With the Arkansas Razorbacks set to play at Texas this Saturday, former Longhorns football coach Mack Brown made a trip to Little Rock on Monday to be the featured guest at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's meeting at the DoubleTree Hotel.
Brown, 74, began his coaching career in 1973, immediately following his playing days as a running back at Vanderbilt and Florida State. He bounced around as an assistant for a decade before landing his first head coaching job at Appalachian State in 1983.
After a season at Appalachian State, Brown spent 1984 as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma before taking over the program at Tulane in 1985. He coached the Green Wave from 1985-87, then moved on to North Carolina in 1988 for his first stint with the Tar Heels.
