ST. JOHNS, Mich. (WILX) - A traffic stop in St. Johns escalated into a high-speed pursuit Monday afternoon after a driver fled from police.
Police say that around 12:20 p.m., St. Johns officers tried to pull over a vehicle for several traffic violations.
The driver took off, reaching speeds over 100 mph. Due to the suspect’s dangerous and reckless driving, officers decided to stop the pursuit for public safety.
Shortly after, police received reports that the driver had abandoned the vehicle at a home in St. Johns.
Officers from St. Johns, DeWitt, and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office searched the area and learned the driver had run away on foot.
Through the investigation, officers located a residence where they were hiding. The suspect was taken into custody without further issues.
