CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - A Carbondale man was arrested in connection with a fire investigation on Thursday, November 13.
Carbondale officers were called around 8:30 p.m. to a report of an arson in progress on the 1400 block of North Illinois Avenue.
This is on the north side of the city on U.S. 51 in the area of the Cornerstone Village mobile home park.
When officers arrived, they reported that the home was on fire, but no one was still inside.
According to Carbondale Police, the suspect, identified as 57-year-old Martin M. Ramirez, was attempting to drive away from the scene, but he was stopped and arrested by responding officers.
Officers said Ramirez was in possession of a loaded gun when he was taken into custody.
