The Government of Odisha has taken a significant step toward improving administrative efficiency by announcing the creation of four new Tahasils to address the immense service delivery challenges in three of the state’s largest urban centres.
The decision was formalised in an official letter dated November 18, 2025, issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Additional Secretary to the Collectors of Khurda, Cuttack, and Sambalpur.
Addressing ‘Enormous Challenges’
The restructuring targets the existing Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Sambalpur Tahasils, which currently encompass the respective Municipal Corporations.
