The City of Vineland has agreed to a $1-million settlement of a resident's lawsuit alleging the police use of excessive force.

This payment resolved a five-year court fight by Jose Paz Jr., a Vineland man who claimed he was the victim of excessive force and other police abuses.

According to his suit, Paz was beaten and kicked by a growing number of officers after he was stopped while walking with a woman on East Avenue in September 2018.
