Police in Hull are investigating the disappearance of 24-year-old Sam, who was reported missing on Thursday, November 6. Authorities now believe he may be the individual seen on CCTV entering the water at Victoria Dock.
Sam was last seen at approximately 12.10 GMT near Axholme Court on Plimsoll Way. Following his disappearance, extensive searches were conducted, and appeals for information were made to the public. Humberside Police reviewed hours of CCTV footage and released clips on Sunday showing two individuals walking along Ocean Boulevard at the time Sam was last seen.
Ch Insp Owen Stafford stated, "The footage shows two individuals walking along the rear of Ocean Boulevard on Victoria Dock promenade in Hull at around the same time Sam was last seen. This location is approximately a two-minute walk from Axholme Court on Plimsoll Way, where Sam was captured on CCTV at around 12.10pm that day."
On Tuesday, police confirmed they had obtained additional video evidence that appears to show a figure entering the water, roughly 50 metres from where Sam was last seen, less than ten minutes earlier.
In a heartfelt update on their Finding Sam social media page, Sam’s family requested that the public cease their search efforts. The statement read, "Thank you everyone over the past 11 days who has aided in us searching for Sam. We would greatly appreciate if anyone currently searching could stop due to some new information which has come to light. We as a family are all thankful for everyone’s shares, comments and well wishes. We will post a proper update when we are ready to and would appreciate you could respect our privacy."
The family expressed their grief, stating, "This is an extremely hard time for us all and we would appreciate time to grieve. We have a long road ahead of us in the hope we can find Sam and lay him to rest."
Last week, Sam's mother, Helen, described the ordeal as "pure hell" and shared her efforts to reach out to him by leaving over 30 care packages and notes around Hull, pleading for him to seek help. The community continues to rally around the family during this difficult time.
