The Philadelphia Eagles had their starting defense on the field when the Detroit Lions ran a fake punt in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, and Lions coach Dan Campbell said that was exactly the look his team wanted for its trick play.
“We wanted that and we felt like there was enough consistent looks to where we were going to be able to get that,” Campbell said in his weekly interview on WXYT-FM (97.1). “We knew it’d be a little bit of a bloodbath but yet we felt good about the looks going into that week.”
Grant Stuard, the personal protector on the Lions’ punt team, took a direct snap on a fourth-and-2 from the Lions’ 43-yard line and was stopped for no gain on a rush up the middle.
