GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The Director of the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) says, “Justice will be pursued, thoroughly and without delay,” in response to the death Monday of a corrections officer .
Prison officials say an inmate is responsible for an attack at River North Correctional Center in Grayson County against three corrections officers, one of whom died at a hospital of his injuries.
Officer Jeremy Lewis Hall, 40, had been employed by VADOC since April 25, 2024.
The other two officers have been released from medical care.
The suspect’s name and specifics about the attack haven’t been released.
