One person was killed in a barn fire early Tuesday morning in unincorporated Pierce County, near Buckley.

Crews from East Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to calls about a barnlike outbuilding that was fully involved in fire at about 12:30 a.m., the agency said. The firefighters had the fire under control by about 1:30 a.m. using 13 units to respond.

One person was found dead inside the building. Authorities did not release the identity of the victim.

The fire is under investigation.
