Many taxpayers who completed their income tax return (ITR) weeks or even months ago are still waiting for their refunds despite the September 16, 2025 filing deadline having passed long ago. With bank accounts being checked daily, the tax department says the delays are tied to closer scrutiny of questionable deduction claims.
