The UIDAI is considering issuing a simplified Aadhaar card featuring only a photo and a QR code to curb misuse and discourage illegal offline verification. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said many entities still collect photocopies of Aadhaar despite the law prohibiting offline storage or use of Aadhaar numbers. A proposal to tighten these rules will be taken up on December 1.
