Zachareah Quraishi, 21, who was released from the Canadian military reserves in July, traveled to the Jewish state, where Israeli authorities say that he tried to commit a terror attack near the Gaza border.

Guards shot and killed the Alberta man after they said that he ignored warnings and charged at them with a knife at Netiv Ha’asara. He shouted “Free Palestine” as he charged at them on July 22, just 12 days after he was released from the reserves.

A spokesman for the Canadian National Defense Department told the National Post that Quraishi served with the Canadian Army reserve in Calgary and that he enrolled on July 17, 2023, and finished basic military qualification on Dec. 6, 2023. He was released on July 10, according to the spokesman.
