Edmontonians will soon be just a direct flight away from Iceland.

Beginning June 26, 2026, WestJet says it will offer non-stop flights from Alberta’s capital to Reykjavik.

The flights will leave Edmonton once a week. There will also be a weekly return flight from Reykjavik to Edmonton.

“This connection between Edmonton and Reykjavik is the result of a strong partnership focused on connecting our community to the world and bringing the world to the Edmonton region,” said James Jackson, the vice-president of air service and business development at Edmonton International Airport (YEG).

“It’s another win for travellers, for tourism, and for Alberta’s economy.”

Currently, Edmontonians wanting to travel to Iceland need at least one layover, such as in Toronto.
