An International Drive businessman is asking Orange County to let him take charge of plans to build a pedestrian bridge over the busy and dangerous intersection of International Drive and Sand Lake Road.
Josh Wallack, owner of Mango’s Tropical Café, went to the county commissioners’ meeting on Tuesday to propose a public-private partnership to help move the long-stalled project forward.
“This is my area of the county. I specialize in International Drive. I have seen this from start to finish,” Wallack told WESH 2 News. “I’ve seen people almost lose their lives all the time at this intersection.”
Wallack has been pushing for a pedestrian overpass for more than a decade, and Orange County has held several meetings and produced studies on the project. The current preferred plan is a so-cal
