The Red Sox face an offseason with a slew of questions, including how they want to handle first base.

Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow didn’t commit to Triston Casas being Boston’s first baseman when the 2026 season begins, and there are intriguing options on the free agent market.

Pete Alonso’s name has come up as a potential fit for Boston, and MLB Network’s Jon Morosi believes the Red Sox have a strong chance to sign the veteran.

“Either they bring back (Alex) Bregman, or they make an all-out pursuit for Pete Alonso. I like their chances to get one or the other,” the MLB insider said on “Hot Stove.”

“I look at the big landscape of things, and I think the Red Sox are the strongest contender of anyone to take Pete Alonso away from the New York Mets,” Morosi added .
