ELYRIA, Ohio — A 22-year-old bicyclist is hospitalized with serious injuries after Elyria police say he was struck in a hit-skip crash near Reaser Pointe Crossing.

According to a press release from the Elyria Police Department, officers were called around 7:02 a.m. on Nov. 17 after a 911 caller reported a man lying in a field just south of East Broad Street with a bicycle nearby.

When officers arrived, they found the victim and rendered aid until LifeCare EMS arrived.

Investigators believe the man was hit by a vehicle based on his injuries, the condition of the bicycle and other evidence at the scene. Accident investigators and detectives were called to determine what happened.
