An 18-year-old Lakewood resident was arrested and charged after he spat in a police officer's face during a dispute at a construction zone on Monday, Nov. 17.
Detective Stephen Nickens was working a traffic assignment at the construction site when he saw Shmaya Schreiber riding his skateboard through an active lane shift, police said.
Nickens issued several commands directing Schreiber to exit the roadway for his safety, but Schreiber ignored him, police said.
When Nickens attempted to stop Schreiber from obtaining his identification for the issuance of a summons, the skateboarder became confrontational, police said.
Schreiber spat directly in Nickens’ face and physically resisted arrest, police said. Additional officers responded and Schreiber was taken into custody without further incident, police said
Schreiber was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, spitting, resisting arrest, possession of false government documents and unlawful possession of a weapon, police said.
