Chat GPT, X and several other popular websites and services were affected the morning of Nov. 18 by an outage at Cloudflare, a provider of behind-the-scenes infrastructure to many of the biggest online services and websites.

While the company said it has fixed the problem, caused by a system update, reports of problems from the outage spanned the globe and persisted late in the morning.

“I won’t mince words: earlier today we failed our customers and the broader Internet when a problem in @Cloudflare network impacted large amounts of traffic that rely on us,” Chief Technology Officer Dane Knecht wrote on X . “The sites, businesses, and organizations that rely on Cloudflare depend on us being available and I apologize for the impact that we caused.”
