Farm Bureau Financial's former top investigators say they were fired after disputes over a complicated situation involving an insurance adjustor breaking into a customer's garage ― and that the company also has been systematically covering up fraud by its customers and agents for more than a decade.
The allegations come in a lawsuit filed by James Newton and Brent Meskimen, who until 2023 were the director of investigations and special investigations manager, respectively, for Farm Bureau Financial Services and Farm Bureau Property & Casualty Insurance Co. The West Des Moines-headquartered financial company, which is majority-owned by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, provides insurance and other services to Farm Bureau members in 14 states, from Oklahoma to Idaho.
