Rawalpindi residents will start travelling on four new electric bus routes, with 45 environmentally friendly buses hitting the roads in the first phase of city’s modern transport upgrade.
The new routes will connect some of the busiest parts of the city. Raja Bazaar to Koral Chowk, Saddar to Adiala Road, Munawar Colony, Saddar to Qabristan Chowk, and Marrir Chowk to 26 Number Chungi.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is expected to inaugurate the service on Wednesday afternoon, marking the official launch of Rawalpindi’s first electric bus system.
Following the inauguration, the chief minister is also expected to receive a detailed briefing at the Commissioner’s Office on Rawalpindi’s ongoing development schemes and visit the Kacheri Chowk construction site.
