The Toyota RAV4 has become the most stolen vehicle in Canada, with more than 2,000 thefts recorded in 2024, according to Équité Association.

The popular SUV has overtaken all other models on its annual list, as organized crime continues to adapt its methods.

Équité reports that newer SUVs — particularly those with keyless-entry vulnerabilities — remain top targets for sophisticated criminal networks operating across the country, especially in Quebec and Ontario.

The RAV4’s global serviceability, high demand and strong resale value make it especially attractive to thieves, the association says, driving up its theft rate and placing it at the top of the national rankings.
