CLAREMONT — From 2016 to 2018, the Claremont girls cross country program established itself as a CIF Southern Section Division 2 power.
The Wolfpack won three straight CIF-SS titles and claimed state titles each of those first two years.
But Claremont has not been able to repeat that success. The Wolfpack have come close, finishing runner-up in CIF-SS in 2019 and 2023.
This year, Claremont might be back.
The Wolfpack entered the postseason ranked No. 1 in CIF-SS Division 2 and will look to win their first CIF title in seven years at Saturday’s CIF-SS Championships at Mt. San Antonio College.
Some elite teams are led by one individual but with the rest of the team far behind. That’s not the case for Claremont, which is led by a triumvirate of senior Isla Bulmer and sophomores Grace Smi
