GEORGETOWN, Ind. — A person was found dead early Tuesday morning after a house fire in southern Indiana.
At about 12:30 a.m., Georgetown Township Fire and Highlander Fire Protection District crews responded to a fire in the 200 block of Sheri Drive in Georgetown, according to a news release.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire and smoke throughout most of the house, Georgetown Township Fire Chief Ned Wiseman said.
After a search, crews found a victim inside the home, Georgetown Fire said. Highlander Fire Protection District confirmed with WHAS11 that there was a report of a death in the home.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire.
