With pre-Christmas festivities approaching, impaired driving shows no signs of abating, the head of the regional chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada heard Tuesday.
Valerie Keyes, president of MADD Canada’s Ottawa and Area chapter, was at Brockville’s police station to launch Project Red Ribbon, the organization’s annual awareness campaign meant to promote sober driving during the holiday season.

“Impaired driving is the most preventable crime on the books,” said Keyes. “It’s a matter of bad judgment, somebody taking an unfortunate decision.”
From Nov. 1 to Jan. 5, MADD Canada plans to distribute thousands of red ribbons and car decals for Canadians to display as a symbol of their commitment never to drive impaired.
