AMES, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa State tight end Gable Burkle will miss the rest of his redshirt junior campaign, head coach Matt Campbell announced Tuesday.

Burkle left Iowa State’s contest against TCU, a 20-17 Cyclone win, and did not return.

“Gabe will be out for the year, will have surgery tomorrow (Wednesday, November 19th),” said Campbell.

Burkle, a graduate of Cedar Rapids Prairie High School, was having a career year. With two regular season games to go, he had 26 receptions, tying a career-high, and 302 receiving yards, already a career-high.

Iowa State will take on Kansas on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. They’ll wrap up their regular season at Oklahoma State on November 29th.
