KILLEEN, Texas — A 50-year-old man is dead following a motorcycle crash in Killeen, the Killeen Police Department has announced.

According to police, officers were called to the intersection of Old FM 440 Road and Pershing Drive in reference to a crash around 6:54 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17.

When officers arrived, they reportedly found a man lying in the roadway. The man was immediately taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.

Killeen Police said the man, identified as 50-year-old Edwin Cruzado Arce of Killeen, later died of his injuries.

A preliminary investigation suggests that Arce was driving west on Pershing Drive at a "high rate of speed," police said. Police said Arce tried to stop at the stop sign, but was unable to do so because of
