Demolition of a portion of the old Rutland Herald building begins this week.

Construction vehicles are expected to arrive Wednesday and demolition of the former newsroom on Wales Street is slated to start Thursday, according to Belden Construction. The demolition is part of site work ahead of Belden's planned 99-room hotel to be built on the site. In addition to the demolition, crews will be digging up the downtown parking pit, which will no longer be available for parking.
