Residents of the Northern Territory's Top End are being urged to be cyclone ready, with the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) announcing that Tropical Cyclone Fina has formed off the NT coast.

When and where will the cyclone hit?
At this stage Tropical Cyclone Fina is expected to make landfall as early as Friday but it remains unclear exactly which regions will be impacted.
The system is currently a category one cyclone sitting 195 kilometres north-north-west of Minjilang.
But the BOM predicts Fina will likely intensify into a category two storm by Thursday morning and has not ruled out further intensification to a category three.
