MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — McLennan County Justice of the Peace Walter "Pete" Peterson will retire at the end of the year, the county has announced.
McLennan County said Peterson has submitted his formal letter of retirement, which was accepted at a Commissioners Court meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
Peterson has served as Justice of the Peace of Precinct 1, Place 2 since Dec. 2012, when he was appointed to complete the term of outgoing Judge William "Billy" Martin, according to the County. Peterson will reportedly remain in office until Dec. 31, 2025, after which the Commissioners Court will appoint someone to fill the remainder of his term, which will end on Dec. 31, 2026.
