TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - There’s a new leader of the Leon County Commission.
Commissioner Christian Caban will take over the chairmanship for the next year.
Unlike the City of Tallahassee, which elects its mayor, the chair of the county is chosen from among its members. Traditionally, they’ve rotated the chair each year, and that tradition continued today.
The chair carries a lot of informal powers, representing the county at events, controlling debates and declaring emergencies. Although the chair’s vote still counts the same as everyone else’s.
