From its garbage hauling to runway lighting, building heating to solar lighting, Kelowna’s airport is said to be among the world’s best.

The airport received a Level 3 rating for its carbon-reduction efforts at a recent gathering of the Airports Council International North America.

“This event is considered the most important global gathering of airport leaders and is attended by senior aviation executives from across the globe,” per a release from YLW.

Airport officials say they’re honoured to be recognized for their commitment to continuous improvements at the terminal, including initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from terminal operations.
