A Long Island couple confessed to killing a man and woman from Westchester before dumping their severed body parts across Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Jeffrey Mackey, 40, and Alexis Nieves, 35, both of Amityville, pleaded guilty in Suffolk County Court Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the February 2024 slayings of Malcolm Brown and Donna Conneely.
Mackey pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder under a plea deal, while Nieves copped to first-degree manslaughter.
Brown and Conneely, of Yonkers, were stabbed to death after entering the couple’s Railroad Avenue home in Amityville on Feb. 27, 2024, according to the Suffolk County DA’s office.
The investigation began Feb. 29, 2024, when a student discovered Brown's arm at Southards Pond Park in Babylon. Crews eventually made the gruesome discoveries of Brown’s other arm, as well as Conneely’s head, torso, arm, and parts of her legs on the opposite side of the park.
Additional remains linked to both victims were later found with the help of cadaver dogs in West Babylon and Bethpage State Park.
Mackey and Nieves – along with co-defendants Amanda Wallace and Steven Brown – were initially arrested in early March 2024 on evidence-tampering and related charges. At the time, investigators did not yet have enough information to charge anyone with murder, and the defendants were released under state bail laws.
Brown, whose last known address was in Yonkers, and Conneely, a Dutchess County native who had recently lived in Northern Westchester, were in a domestic partnership, according to their social media profiles.
Investigators have not publicly speculated on a motive for the slayings.
Mackey and Nieves are scheduled to be sentenced in December. Mackey is expected to receive 22 years in prison, while Nieves is expected to get 11 years.
Wallace and Brown previously pleaded guilty to charges related to disposing of the victims’ remains.
