It was Kevin Brown’s grandmother’s idea. All they needed was a couch.

As it turned out, a Harrisburg High School strength and conditioning coach had one the family could have for free.

The piece of furniture would serve as a totem of Brown’s big announcement on Tuesday afternoon, as the one-time Penn State commit FaceTimed into the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN from his uncle’s house in Sherman’s Dale to announce his commitment to West Virginia—burning a couch in honor of the storied Morgantown tradition after a big win.

“Believe it or not, the couch was heavy,” Brown said.

The couch was heavy, but so was the recruiting process that led him to the his flip to West Virginia.

With James Franklin’s departure from Penn State, Brown began looking for other options after committing to the Nittany
