Delhi University is preparing for a security upgrade with a proposal to install nearly 700 CCTV cameras across its campuses, marking one of its most extensive surveillance expansions in the recent years.
The move comes amid a broader push to modernise safety infrastructure and improve monitoring in high footfall academic zones.
According to officials, the project estimated at around Rs 9 crore will cover the North, South, East and West campuses of the university. Most of the cameras are expected to be high resolution, IP-based units capable of real-time monitoring, night vision capture and longer data retention periods.
