Sudden stratospheric warming could be just days away from bringing more snow and cold to the UK - the weather phenomenon caused 2018’s so-called Beast from the East

As Brits prepare for several inches of snow this week, weather forecasters say more cold is to come as the weather phenomenon which caused 2018’s ‘Beast from the East’ looks set to return.

The Met Office has issued a number of yellow weather warnings for snow and ice from today until Thursday. An amber snow warning is also in place on Thursday for parts of Yorkshire and the North East, where as much as 25cm (10 inches) could fall in places.

Yet more wintry chaos could be right around the corner as forecasters believe sudden stratospheric warming - which caused the infamous ‘Beast from the East’ snowstorm in 2018 -
