Former Waverly-Shell Rock and UNI basketball player Austin Phyfe was named the Panthers' new Donor Experience Officer, the university announced Monday.

In the role, Phyfe will help facilitate new donations to the athletics program, and will also be responsible for building relationships with donors both past and present.

In a statement released by the university, Phyfe talked about his excitement to begin in the new role.

"I am excited to step into the role of Donor Experience Officer for Athletics at the University of Northern Iowa. With so many exciting developments happening in UNI Athletics, I look forward to contributing to its continued success and making an impact on a place that has meant so much to me from a young age," Phyfe said.
