The U.S. House of Representatives voted 427 to 1 on Tuesday to approve the release of documents and files pertaining to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The Senate then passed the Epstein files bill by unanimous consent later in the day.
The one opposing vote was by Clay Higgins, a Louisiana Republican.
Among the 'yes' voters from the Republican Party was Grand Junction's Jeff Hurd, who represents Colorado's 3rd Congressional District.
Ahead of the vote, Hurd spoke to The Daily Sentinel about his intention of voting to release the files, calling Epstein's crimes as “one of the most disturbing abuses of power I've seen” and saying “the public deserves to know the full truth.” He added that this action by Congress is “way past due.”
