As the third week of CFP rankings are released today, one element is already clear – the committee still obviously values wins and losses, and head-to-head competition is the most significant factor – unless you’re Notre Dame or in the SEC. That’s why Texas was ranked ahead of Oklahoma, Alabama was ahead of Georgia, etc.

So why then is Miami ranked behind the Irish, whom they defeated 27-24, with each having the same number of losses? And why is Ole Miss highly ranked when they have only one win against a current ranked team when we were told strength of schedule would be a major component of the committee's criteria, and their non-SEC strength of schedule is atrocious (Georgia State, Wazzou, and Citadel).
