U.S. lawmakers on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly in favour of making the Jeffrey Epstein files public, supporting a bill to force the Justice Department to publicly release the files on the convicted billionaire sex offender following months of opposition from President Donald Trump and other Republicans.
The bill passed 427-1 and Rep. Clay Higgins represented the lone “no” vote. The Louisiana Republican is a steadfast supporter of Trump who also chairs a subcommittee that initiated a subpoena on the Justice Department for the Epstein files.
