For seven years, on and off, Stephen Goodwin has had a basketball hoop set up at the end of his quiet, suburban cul-de-sac in O'Connor.
Somewhere for kids of all ages to shoot a few hoops after school and dream of being the next Patty Mills or Lauren Jackson .
Goodwin thought he'd come to an agreement with Transport Canberra and City Services after former acting director-general Ben McHugh visited Finn Street in April last year.
But two ACT government warning letters and a fine later he's been forced to take it down. Again.
Apparently the garbage truck drivers complained because the backboard, which slightly overhangs the street, meant they had to do a three-point turn.
Plus, the nature strip is considered government land so Goodwin shouldn't be building on it.
Sigh out loud. Eye
