SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - St. Armands could receive a $24.5 million grant from Resilient SRQ to help with storm mitigation efforts on the barrier island.
The proposed funding would address five key improvement areas the city has identified for the island.
Sarasota city engineer Sage Kamiya said the city wants to improve aging county infrastructure on St. Armands.

“The St. Armand project is looking at improving flooding, from both tide and rainwater, for the entire area of St. Armands. So, the circle itself and the residents around it,” Kamiya said. “As a result of all these things we’ve had happen in the past year, so we want to make them better.”
